When Look and Learn got it wrong

Look and Learn didn't always get it right. Back in 1975, IPC Magazines put out the Look and Learn 9th Book of the Wonders of Nature 1976 and accidentally transposed a caption on the endpapers which meant that the Death Cap toadstall, fatal in 95% of cases, was not poisonous. Oops.

The error was quickly spotted and IPC sent out a warning to newsagents (below) to try and recall copies of the annual that had already been distributed and sold. The warning obviously worked as I've yet to find a copy of the book with the error intact or any mention of a fatality in connection with people confidently eating Death Cap mushrooms after reading the book.
