John Howard Jackson Boyle

Just discovered I missed out Michael Dawson from the Eagle Authors listing, which is a good enough excuse to see what I can find out. Michael Dawson wrote only a single story, 'Musket of Honour', illustrated by Will Nickles, published in the issue for 9 May 1952.

Dawson, it turns out, was the pseudonym of an author named John Howard Jackson Boyle. Born on 7 May 1916, Boyle died in Eastbourne, Sussex, in 1994, aged 78, and apart from that I've found nothing about his career.

Given his middle names, I do wonder if he was the author of a slim paperback original called Soho Pay Off, published by Martin & Reid in 1946, but I've no way of confirming a connection.
